Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should a child first visit the dentist?

If your child is experiencing extraordinary tooth pain, decay or other types of problems, it is never too early to come in for help. Generally, we like to see children by the time that they reach school age, so that we can see how their teeth are developing and begin teaching them good habits for dental hygiene. Getting started early with pediatric dental care lays a foundation for future dental health and a bright and happy smile.

What insurance plans do you accept?

Our Palo Alto family dentistry practice is not limited to accepting one single managed care program. Provided that you have the freedom to choose your own dentist, we will be happy to accept your insurance plan. Note, however, that any amount which is not covered by your policy will be billed to you and you will be responsible for payment. Fortunately, you don't have to worry about deciphering the often confusing language of your policy; we are happy to help you determine what benefits you are eligible to receive so that you can take full advantage of your coverage.

Are you available for emergency care after hours?

For after-hours emergency care, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (650) 388-8158. We understand how important it is to find help when you need it, and we are ready to assist you with getting out of pain as quickly as possible.

What payment options are available?

You can pay for your treatment in our office with cash, check or major credit cards including Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express. Additionally, we help our patients who need extensive or long-term care by assisting with applications for Care Credit, an outside financing company that offers lines of credit at competitive rates of interest. The application and approval process for Care Credit usually takes only minutes, and is available through a secure online system.

What sets your office apart from the competition?

Nidhi A Pai DMD has been included in the Top 100 Dentist's in America and is listed among the Top Docs of Silicon Valley, as well as being a featured speaker at various forums including NBC's Living Well program. We make use of cutting-edge treatment technologies which make receiving dental care as comfortable as possible. On top of all this, we have also set our office up to provide an experience which is in many ways more like visiting a spa than the dentist, with music and movies in each treatment room, warm blankets and lemon-scented towels for after appointment, and even a paraffin hand wax treatment to pamper you.

How can I improve my smile without getting braces?

Braces are a common approach to correcting the alignment of a patient's teeth, but they are not the only option. Dr. Pai is an Invisalign Preferred Provider, and can help you with this treatment plan which makes it possible to enjoy the confidence of having straight teeth without the self-consciousness that often comes with wearing metal braces. In some cases, the effect can be more easily achieved through the application of dental veneers, which offer the benefits of the appearance of correctly aligned teeth, along with a whiter and brighter smile. We provide a number of different cosmetic dentistry services, and will be happy to take the time to review all your options during an initial consultation with a Palo Alto dentist from our team.
